People! Get this. FASHION’S NIGHT OUT. September 8th. Put it in your calendars. Target kicks off a three day pop-up store to celebrate the launch of the Missoni for Target collection. That means you can shop the collection before it goes public on the 13th! Wait, it gets better. Angela Missoni and my BFF Margherita Maccapani Missoni will BE THERE. This is coming straight from my Target contact’s mouth, and I quote, “The first 20 people who spend more than $100 get the chance to take a family-style portrait with the Missonis themselves.”  GASP. I need to go collect myself. See you on FNO!

The cat is out of the bag. Today, I told all my closest girlfriends that I’m going to NYC for Fashion Week to blog about the Missoni for Target collection. You have never heard so many gasps over a cheese and charcuterie plate. I think it has elevated me, if that is even possible, in the eyes of my best friends. I mean, I am the go-to doll for Margherita Maccapani Missoni. Pretty cool, if I might say so. I wish I were leaving today! I know it is only a month away, but it cannot come fast enough!

Check it out! Margherita Maccapani Missoni just sent me some sneak peeks from the Missoni for Target look book. And she said I could share with you, my faithful! Every page is filled with textile knits in incredible colors from cardigans to shorts to long sleeved tops to mini-dresses. There will be more than 400 pieces, including luggage, home pieces and, get this, a bicycle! I can’t get to NYC fast enough and see this with my very own glass eyes. 28 days and counting…

Okay. So, I was daydreaming in my fave park — my go-to spot ‘cuz I don’t have to duck under any roofs — and suddenly I spot something shimmering in the near distance, like a mirage. Squinting to get a better look,  I realize it’s a girl in what I can only describe as fantastic beaded disco daywear. And right after I posted about my mom’s NYC disco days, weird right? Anyway, she was mesmerizing, with the afternoon sunlight catching her intricately beaded dress – like a fabulous disco ball! A doll like me can only dream of wearing an outfit like that. I’d look like a light show over all of Italy.

Family dinner tonight - the buzz was all about this doll. You’re going to want to sit down for this. Ready? When I told my mom about this amazing trip to NYC that Missoni and Target are sending me on, she waxed nostalgic about her time in New York. She was there in 1977, in the middle of disco decadence! Just imagine the metallics, short shorts, sheer tops, jumpsuits, flowing silks and platform stilettos. And I will be there almost 30 years later. How cool is that?! I wish I could see the NYC mom saw, but… I can’t wait to see what it’s like now! I did some research and WOW. I can’t even. I can’t even. OMG.

So after a few conversations with my new BFF Margherita Maccapani Missoni - don’t be jealous – I’m realizing how awesome my job is. I mean, I am the working girl for Missoni and Target covering Margherita’s exclusive new line at Target. It’s a dream come true. My calling in life. Cuz seriously, I’m the hub. The ambassador. The style obsessed middle doll. It’s pretty huge. Are you hearing me people! Target. Missoni. Me.

I just got all worked up again. OMG. I’m at a loss for words. I know, hard to believe. But. What. OMG. I have to go. See you in September! The countdown begins NOW!

OMG. Check it out. Remember I wondered if this could get any better? Well….. I AM GOING TO NEW YORK CITY FOR FASHION WEEK! Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, be jealous. This doll is packing her oversized bags and jetting off to New York City. I can’t even wrap my porcelain head around it. The Target and Missoni partnership wants me, yes, your doll, to take my blog to NYC and continue blogging everything Missoni, Target and fashion from the style frontlines.

One word, ladies. Catsuit. Need I say more? Animal print is so fabulous it speaks for itself. So here’s a little fun factoid about it instead. The 1930s Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, sworn enemy of Coco Chanel (shocking, I know), is the woman responsible for making animal print all the rage it is today. And wait. There’s more. She’s also responsible for making hot pink a hot color. Legendary, this doll says.

Since entering the world of Target, I’ve done my research. Obviously they’re a major retailer, but I didn’t totally understand the hugeness of all this. Cuz it’s huge! They’ve done some unbelievable lines with other designer greats like Alexander McQueen, Richard Chai, Thakoon, Rodarte and Jean Paul Gaultier. Drop a name and they’ve probably done a partnership with them. I need to get my hollow frame into some clothes from this collaboration! All that fabulousness finally affordable for us dolls, and right at your fingertips at Target! I approve!
